Diarmid Technology is owned and run by me, Doug Greenhough. Whilst working with local businesses in my previous role as Technology Manager at South Lakes Development Trust, I encountered a strong demand for affordable bespoke software and impartial technology advice — especially from small firms who lacked the resources to bring someone in full-time.
I am originally from Kendal, but after completing my physics degree at the University of Bath I came back to work in Windermere. Although I focus mainly on the South Lakes, I have worked on projects across the Northwest and further afield, mainly via referrals from satisfied customers.
I have been writing developing applications and creating websites for more than ten years, and I am happy to say that most of the companies I have worked remain valued customers. I strongly believe that what local firms want is the best possible service with a quick return on investment, and this philosophy has produced a very high rate of repeat custom.
I feel that the key to creating a good product is understanding the needs of the client, so I take the time and energy to get to know the business of all of my customers. This saves a lot of headaches further down the line — poor communication or a misunderstanding of the business logic of a system can lead to a lot of wasted time and needless expense. By approaching each project as a problem to be solved rather than a product to be sold, clients get a service that is tailor-made for their unique situation.
